Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and BitStream, which operates UniRide. By creating an account you accept them, together with our Privacy Policy. Please read them — they explain what UniRide is, what it is not, and what we expect of everyone who uses it.
1. What UniRide is
UniRide is a platform that helps university students share rides with each other. Students who need a ride (“passengers”) and students who are verified to offer one on their own vehicle (“riders”) post and join rides through the app.
UniRide does not provide transport and does not employ riders. Each ride is an arrangement between the rider and the passenger. Riders are fellow students, not drivers working for us.
2. Who can use UniRide
- You must be a university student aged 18 or over.
- You must give accurate information — your real name, your own student ID number and your own contact details — and keep it up to date.
- One account per person. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for everything done from your account.
3. Riders
To offer rides you must be approved by us, and while you ride you must:
- hold a valid driving licence for your vehicle, and keep the vehicle registered, roadworthy and insured as the law requires;
- follow traffic law, and provide your passenger with a helmet where the law requires one;
- use only the vehicle you were approved with, and ride only yourself — an account may not be shared or lent;
- never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Applications are reviewed by a person. We may ask for more information, refuse an application, or withdraw approval at any time. An application can be corrected and resubmitted after a rejection, but after three rejections the account is blocked.
4. Fares and payment
- The app shows the fare for a ride before anyone commits to it. It is calculated by UniRide from the trip’s distance and does not change after the ride is booked.
- The passenger pays the rider that fare in cash at the end of the ride. Riders must not ask for more than the fare shown.
- UniRide does not currently charge riders or passengers for using the app. If that changes, we will tell you before it applies to you.
5. How everyone must behave
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger anyone;
- post or join a women-only or men-only ride you are not eligible for, or misrepresent your gender to do so;
- create a fake account, impersonate someone, or use another person’s documents;
- use UniRide for anything illegal, to carry goods for payment, or as a commercial taxi service;
- interfere with the app or our systems, or collect other users’ information.
If your plans change, cancel in the app as early as you can — someone may already be on their way. Repeatedly failing to turn up can lead to your account being suspended.
6. Safety and reporting
We verify riders and keep records of every trip, but we cannot guarantee how any user will behave. Use your own judgement: check that the rider, vehicle and number plate match what the app shows before you get on, and do not ride with anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
In an emergency, call 999 first. Then tell us at official.bitstream@gmail.com. We investigate every report and may suspend or block accounts while we do.
7. Suspension and closing your account
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or that we reasonably believe is fake. Where it is safe to, we will tell you why.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app, or by asking us. Our Privacy Policy explains what is erased and what is kept.
8. Our responsibility
We work to keep UniRide available and accurate, but it is provided “as is”. We are not a party to the rides arranged through it and, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the conduct of riders or passengers, for loss or injury during a ride, or for losses caused by the app being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the law that cannot be limited.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters to how you use UniRide, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and the courts of Dhaka have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. Questions: BitStream · official.bitstream@gmail.com.
